The Bird, Bath
The Bird, Bath
Vivacious and vibrant
If you’re feeling flighty, take off to the Bird in Bath, a boutique stay with an eccentric manner and chirpy personality that’s come to rest by Bath Abbey. This Victorian villa has been given plenty of pizzazz by its experienced hotel owners (who have countryside stay Homewood in their flock), with bobby-dazzler chandeliers, look-at-me artworks in every nook and bird-of-paradise colours – plus many nods to its avian inspiration. Food is fine and foraged, drinks can be taken onto Plate terrace come summer, and there's a larder full of snacks to raid – a stay where every day is a hoot.
The Bird is a quirky hotel where many of the individually designed rooms offer views across Bath Abbey and the city beyond. There are 31 bedrooms, from compact, comfy doubles all the way up to our rather fabulous hot tub feature room. Each one tells its own story, through hand-crafted wallpaper, unique artwork, dramatic designs and knock out views including Bath Abbey. Set in the beautiful neighbourhood of Bathwick, it is just a short stroll from world loved world heritage sites such as The Roman Baths, Pulteney Weir, The Holburne Museum and Thermae Bath Spa. The flamboyant and fun design housed in a classic Bath stone building captures the vibrancy of the city.

The newly launched Plate Restaurant serves a feast of honest British dishes, each created by Head Chef Leon Smith using the finest local produce. Leon’s ever-changing menus feature the finest ingredients from farmers and fishermen, hand-picked to create spectacular, playful dishes ideal for sharing and socialising over. Plate’s gregarious and relaxed atmosphere provides a great backdrop for the serious business of eating, and their signature bold designs and artworks make perfect conversation pieces.
Plate’s terrace is a truly unique feature in Bath. Offering one of the city’s best al-fresco dining areas and views to match, this colourful space is designed to bring a smile to peoples’ faces. A mix of relaxed seating for dining and drinks includes covered pavilions for the Terrace to be enjoyed by families, friends, and four-legged friends, whatever the weather brings. There’s also glamorous dining domes, elevated to capture the very best of the evening sun and catch the golden glow bouncing from the Bath Abbey in the distance.
