Real Face Time at the Roman Baths
Reconnect with history and explore the treasures beneath the Roman Baths when we reopen on 17 May (subject to confirmation). Discover the Sacred Spring that has risen for thousands of years at the heart of our site. And follow its mineral-rich waters as they flow through the ingenious Roman plumbing to fill the many baths and pools.
The beautiful Great Bath is the centrepiece of the complex, with its ornate columns and deep sense of what has gone before. The icy plunge pool and sauna rooms display the fascinating remains of the ancient heating system.
Wander the walkways, while away time by the waters and you’ll get a unique perspective on what it would have been like to slip into these inviting baths.
Bring little ones along to share in the experience and you’ll see their eyes grow wide as they take in the impressive spectacle before them. Let them listen to stories from our actors, grab an activity pack from our ticket desk and download our free app to give them extra encouragement to explore the site.
And don’t miss out on our free children’s audio guides. Narrated by popular author Michael Rosen they are designed to capture the imagination and inspire discovery.
The fun doesn’t stop when they get home. If a visit has got them bursting with enthusiasm for all things Roman we have some great interactive games on our Learning for Life page on the website. Here they can design their own Roman coin or try a Roman themed jigsaw puzzle.
