Let’s get this party started!

Hundreds of talented singers and musicians are looking forward to entertaining us at Party in the City, Bath’s biggest party night of the year. Party in the City takes place on Friday 17 May, from 5pm til late, kicks off ten days of The Bath Festival 2024.

At Party in the City you’ll be able to hear bands playing in pubs and parks, choirs singing in churches and artists performing in museums and art galleries. This year there will be over 100 acts playing in more than 35 venues - and it’s all for free. There’s no need to book a place or buy a ticket, just turn up and join the thousands of other revellers enjoying this special night of live music.

Start planning with family and friends where you’re going to spend your Party in the City evening. Where are you going to meet? Should you book something to eat at one of Bath’s brilliant eateries to sustain you between performances?

Some partygoers like to move from venue to venue as the evening goes on, taking in the sunshine at Parade Gardens in the early evening, stopping off at St Swithin’s Church or The Guildhall to hear some choirs and bands, before heading on to their favourite pub or bar, while other revellers prefer to pick their spot, and stay to listen as the musical acts play and sing through the evening. There will be bands and singers in venues, including Komedia, Widcombe Social Club, the Holburne Museum and Milsom Place.

It doesn’t matter what the weather throws at us, Party in the City is always a great evening, attracting tens of thousands of people of all ages. So put on your dancing shoes and join the fun!

Party in the City takes some organising, as you can imagine, and The Bath Festival is an arts charity always in need of financial support. So, if you see a bucket, chuck in some coins, or donate via a festival card reader held by one of the friendly festival volunteers.

Find all the details about Party in the City on website and look out for the at-a-glance printed guide which you’ll be able to pick up at venues all over Bath city centre.

The Bath Festival runs from Fri 17 May - Sunday 26 May, with an author line-up that includes Michael Ball, Ruby Wax, Kit de Waal, Mark Billingham, Kathy Lette and Howard Jacobson. There will be talks about the Great Post Office Scandal, climate change, women’s health and the secrets of living a happy life. The music programme includes an evening with Irish folk singer Cara Dillon, a concert by a capella ensemble Stile Antico in Bath Abbey and a concert at The Forum with Bath Philharmonia and The Royal Marines School of Music.

There’s still time to buy tickets for most events, either in advance here or in person from Bath Box Office, who will be running a ticket selling service during both weekends of the festival at Bath Guildhall.
