The Autumn walk with a whole lot of heart for our local hospital
The Walk of Life is a countryside-stepping, canal walk for The Forever Friends Appeal – the official NHS charity for the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH Bath).
On Saturday 18 September, you are invited to join the marathon or 10 mile walk and help raise funds along the way for patients, families and dedicated staff. You’ll be guaranteed beautiful countryside views, narrowboats and nature to boot, as you discover the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath.
The 26.2 mile marathon walks begins in the morning in Bishops Cannings, Wiltshire. There’s a short walk through the quaint village before reaching the canal, where it joins the towpath and passes through the legendary Caen Hill Locks, the historic town of Bradford on Avon and up high over Dundas aqueduct.
The 10 mile walk joins in the afternoon in Bradford on Avon. Both walks victoriously cross the finish line at the Holburne Museum in Bath.
If you’d prefer to go at your own pace, there’s also a virtual marathon option where you can take on the 26.2 miles throughout the whole month of September. Perfect for the whole family!

How your walk will help
The last year and a half has highlighted just how amazing our NHS is. The incredible staff at the RUH Bath have been working tirelessly every day to support patients, families, and each other throughout one of the most challenging times in the history.
They have never stopped going the extra mile for us, and now it’s our turn.
Every step taken will help the charity continue to support staff beyond the crisis and transform patient care, where it’s needed most. Funds raised help us invest in life saving equipment and life changing services that go over and above what standard NHS funding can provide
