Goodbye Arts Café…Hello The Electric Bar!
Komedia launches new live events space and bar
During the last year of closure, the Komedia team has taken time to reevaluate the venue’s small space, previously known as the Arts Cafe. Following feedback from residents, students and the city’s gig-going population, it’s become clear that Bath would benefit from a supportive and intimate live venue space for up-and-coming artists to hone their craft, and for live music fans to discover new acts, chill-out and socialise. Newly christened The Electric Bar, this new mini venue is here to do just that. The Electric Bar is also open in the day, offering a relaxed environment for food and drink.
With plans for daytime and evening events, The Electric Bar has a fully-kitted out stage with brand new lights, PA and projector, and has an audience capacity of up to 100 standing or 60 seated - ideal for live music, spoken word, stand-up comedy or even film screenings.

As for the name, Deputy Venue Manager Laurie Reese explains:
“Back in the 1920s, the whole venue was called “The Electric Theatre” so we are harking back to our heritage, while also creating something new and exciting. The Electric Bar is a welcoming space to enjoy a cold pint and a tasty snack, while listening to great music – either from one of our staff-curated ‘new music’ playlists or from one of the many live bands who will be dropping in for sessions.”
Key to the space’s new identity, The Electric Bar’s new lunch menu offers casual, street-style favourites ranging from homemade burgers and hotdogs to loaded fries, nachos and salads - perfect for a quick pit-stop or a lazy afternoon. There’s also a range of deals such as a burger or hotdog and a pint for £8 and 2-4-1 cocktails between 12-3pm.
Komedia is also excited to have partnered-up with local indie record store, Resolution Records who will be bringing a selection of the finest new releases and classic records to spin in full every day at lunch time - ideal for music lovers or those looking to find some new tunes.
Keen to show-off the best of Bath, the bar stocks local beers and ciders including Bath Ales Gem, Cubic and Bounders, as well as Electric Bear’s Werrrd.
The space is also home to Komedia’s walk-in Box Office, which is open from 10am - 5pm, Tuesday - Saturday. Here you can purchase tickets for shows, or just have a chat with the team about what’s coming up, or even enquire about putting on a gig.
