Every Day is an Open Day
Bath Academy is an academically non-selective independent college. We are situated on the beautiful Queen Square in the city centre welcoming students aged 14 - 19. Our college provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment where students are truly given the chance to thrive and perform to the best of their ability.
Our diverse student body includes a handful of international students which add to our local student body - we believe our students turn out as well rounded individuals with broader horizons than the average school-leaver – rearing and ready to take on the next important rung of their lives in higher education or their chosen career. Our track record of student success stories and stellar exam results reflect this with many of ours students (85% in the last academic year) achieving places at their first-choice university.
Personal attention to individual students is central to our academic vision. It makes Bath Academy educationally distinctive and appeals to students of all levels of ability. We believe that taking the time to get to know students and adapting to their individual needs with tailored education leads to effective teaching, better learning, and a positive day-to-day community experience.
Students are taught in small class sizes of no more than eight students at Bath Academy with weekly Formative Assessments in a designated and peaceful room to monitor their progress against the grades necessary for them to progress. Students do not have to wear a school uniform and are encouraged to use the first name of staff members in order to nourish a comfortable and personable environment. Our dedicated Personal Tutor system means our students are supported throughout the duration of their courses with UCAS Applications and pastoral needs, providing each student with the best possible chance at success.

The courses at Bath Academy can be tailor-made for students who do not achieve the grades they require to progress to their chosen university. It is also a good option for those students who have had a disrupted education - for example - due to moving schools, or extra educational needs, a change in curriculum, or the need to study an additional subject.
"Here we are on Results Day, with the media pundits looking for something controversial to fill the airwaves and column inches. Previously it has been ‘made up’ grades during COVID, followed by easier exams with grade inflation and universities lowering their entry requirements.
In contrast, I would like to flag up the hard work put in by Bath Academy students, many of whom had decided not to settle for second best last year and took the decision to come to us and resit their A-Levels. On average they improved by 2 grades per subject, with one student improving her three A-Levels by an impressive 10 grades.
We teach, educate and support young people who feel one down by providing the encouragement to move from a ‘felt minus to a felt plus’, and lead more satisfying and creative lives. I am a Psychology teacher and my favourite psychologist – Albert Ellis – once said, 'The trouble with most therapy is that it helps you feel better. But you don’t get better. You have to back it up with action, action, action.'
Our students have done just that, by putting in the hard work to progress to universities matching their abilities and aspirations – congratulations!"
- Tim Naylor, Principal.
We pride ourselves on our exceptional student support – our highest priority is our students’ happiness and fulfilled ambitions. Wellbeing and career guidance at Bath Academy include Psychometric assessments, UCAS Application Support, our Learning Support Specialists for those with learning difficulties, and our Enrichment Programme.
