Fresher @RondoTheatre

From the 30th January an original play will be performed for four nights at the Rondo Theatre in Larkhall, Bath. Fresher by Pippa Thornton aims to draw attention to the mental health problems which plague many students in the UK.

Fresher is a darkly humorous portrayal of the difficulties faced by a significant number of young people attending higher education, and of the drinking culture that is synonymous with student life. Writer/Director Pippa Thornton, who attended Bath Spa University from 2011 – 2014, says:

“I wanted to write about my own experiences of University. There tends to be a preconception that it will be the best time of your life, so if you don’t enjoy it then you feel like there’s something wrong with you. Fresher is about the pressure to have fun and make the most of being young, at the expense of your own mental health.”

The play will be performed by a cast of alumni from Bath Spa and Bristol University, and is receiving support from the Rondo Theatre as part of its dedication to supporting emerging local talent and new writing. Tickets are on sale now.
