Win a pair of tickets for

Destination Fabulous!

Sunday 19 May at 4pm in The Guildhall

We have got two tickets to give away to Destination Fabulous! Come and hear pearls of wisdom from Anna Murphy, the fashion director of The Times, on Sunday 19 May at 4pm in The Guildhall. She will be talking about her wise, inspiring and invigorating new guide to making the most of life as a grown-up woman – from the practical (how to dress your best) to the existential (how to feel your best).

Anna will be in conversation with Bath and Somerset based stylist Natasha Musson aka The Secret Stylist on practical ways to help us embrace our age and celebrate the wisdom and inner beauty that comes with it.

It’s not about impossible goals. It’s not about running a marathon (unless you want it to be). It’s not about denying the ageing process, nor attempting to erase its signs. It’s not about letting everything go, either. It’s about balance. It’s about the possible and the present. And it’s about the future you want.

How do you lift and smooth your face naturally? Should you go grey, and, if so, how? How do you deal with menopause? Anna combines her knowledge from years of writing about fashion and beauty with her openness to the alternative ways of thinking found in disciplines such as yoga and Chinese medicine. For her natural is always best.

As for fashion, Anna knows better than anyone that this can be the ultimate route into surfacing the true you. She shares all her tricks for finding your way to a wardrobe that will transform not just the way you look but the way you feel.

She writes about saying goodbye to what doesn’t serve you and welcoming what does; about forging relationships that work for you as well as others; and about finding your purpose, whether in your personal or professional life. Discover how the bumps on her road have helped her find her way to her true path.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to this inspiring talk is answer this question:

How old was fashion writer Anna Murphy when she found her best stylish self? a) in her 30s b) in her 40s? Or c) in her 50s?

Destination Fabulous: Finding Your Way to the Best You Yet is published by Mitchell Beazeley on 8 May. You can buy tickets for Destination Fabulous at The Bath Festival, Sunday 19 May, from: thebathfestival.org.uk.

Sherlock Holmes: The Valley of Fear

at the Theatre Royal Bath

on Tuesday 16th April at 7.30pm

From Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th April, Blackeyed Theatre bring their world premiere production of Sherlock Holmes: The Valley Of Fear to the Theatre Royal Bath. Crammed full of adventure, mystery and, of course, one or two rather brilliant deductions, The Valley Of Fear is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s thrilling final Sherlock Holmes novel.

This new stage adaptation with original music, stylish theatricality and magical story-telling stars Bobby Bradley as Sherlock Holmes and Baldwin; Joseph Derrington as Dr John Watson and Eldon Stanger; Blake Kubena as Jack McMurdo and Detective White-Mason; Gavin Molloy as Jack McGinty, Inspector McDonald, Cecil Barker and Moriarty, and Alice Osmanski as Ettie Shafter, Mrs Hudson, Ivy Douglas and Captain Marvin, with all other parts played by members of the cast.

A mysterious, coded message is received, a warning of imminent danger, drawing Sherlock Holmes and the faithful Dr Watson into a tale of intrigue and murder stretching from 221B Baker Street to an ancient moated manor house and the bleak Pennsylvanian Vermissa Valley. Faced with a trail of bewildering clues, Holmes begins to unearth a darker, wider web of corruption, a secret society and the sinister work of one Professor Moriarty.

Bouncers

at the Theatre Royal Bath

on Monday 22nd April at 7.30pm

John Godber’s hit comedy Bouncers - one of the most popular plays of the last fifty years - visits the Theatre Royal Bath for the first time appearing from Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th April. Eye-wateringly funny, celebratory and as relevant today as it ever was, the play has become an international sensation, gathering awards from around the world.

Bouncers is back in town and everyone will be there: the DJ, the girls, boys and the fish and chip van. Audiences are invited to join Les played by George Reid, Ralph played by Tom Whittaker, Judd played by Nick Figgis and Frazer Hammill as Lucky Eric as they relive a night in a Yorkshire disco in the 80s with a pumping soundtrack of modern classics. Hilarious, vulgar, frenetic and highly physical, this new production of John Godber’s much loved play revisits the glorious highs when disco was king, and everyone lived for the weekend.
