25 year of @MrPeterAndre – we chat to the Antipodean superstar about his UK tour that takes in @TheBathForum – plus you could win two tickets for the show!
It has been 25 years since Peter Andre first burst onto the music scene. Now, the internationally acclaimed, global media star is back with a 25-date tour of the UK, taking in The Forum, Bath on 22nd February. We managed to grab a quick chat with the Antipodean superstar to talk about the tour, antiques and family life.
Hi Peter, many thanks for taking the time out to chat to us. So this year sees you celebrate 25 years in show business with a UK tour. We can’t wait to see you perform in Bath, what can we expect from the show?
Well it’s the Celebrate 25 Years tour where I’m performing at 25 venues around the country. It really is going to be a great show with lots of the old classics as well as some of my more recent stuff with a few surprises thrown in along the way!
So this is a real celebration of your work and a big thank you to your fans. How important have they been to you over the past 25 years?
25 years ago I opened for Madonna in Australia for her Stadium tour. I’m so lucky people want to still see me! I’m looking forward to seeing everybody hopefully having a good time!
You’ve always managed to keep re-inventing yourself, whether it’s through the diversity in your music or through TV programmes. Has it been a conscious effort to try your hand at most things to keep it fresh?
I’ve been extremely lucky that I’ve had so many opportunities in my career from singing to TV presenting and even acting, it hasn’t been a conscious effort to keep it fresh, it’s just been amazing that I’ve had so many other doors opening and I’ve been lucky enough to give new things a try.
With your pop career, swing albums, love songs and even Christmas releases, how difficult has it been to select the songs for the show?
It’s been hard I’m not going to lie, but I think everybody will be pleased with the choices that I’ve made.
Of the styles of music you have recorded, which is your favourite?
All music I love actually but that’s hard to choose. But if I had to pick a couple it would have to be soul and funk.
Is there a TV programme you would like to try – and why?
I would love to try my hand either on The Voice, because I love discovering and supporting new talent, or maybe hosting a family quiz show, that would be so cool to do.
I saw you on Celebrity Antiques Roadshow the other day – you were very good. Maybe an antiques shop (oh) ‘Mysterious Gifts’ ?
Ha ha very good… I really enjoyed filming Antiques Roadshow – it really opened my eyes to a new world. I don’t know if I’d make a very good dealer mind you.
How is touring and do the family come along to cheer you on?
This tour is pretty full on around the UK so it is hard to be away from the family but that’s also the good thing about Facetime, you can still see everybody and speak to them. But yes I love it when family and friends can come along and see me in action. It will be Millie and Theo’s first time seeing me in concert.
If you could go back to the 20 year old Peter Andre and give him any advice, what would it be?
Enjoy the moment… I spent so much time not even appreciating where I was or what I was lucky enough to be doing that it just zoomed by.
So what’s the plan for the next 25 years?
Well who knows where any of us will be in 25 years’ time! I’m 45 (nearly 46) now and I’m obviously not going to be performing forever but I am excited to be trying interior design out and through that I have a new bed range out called A by Andre and I’ll be adding to that over the next few years. Hopefully I’ll also be building a new house out in Cyprus as well.
