Permission to skate freely: @BathOnIce just got bigger!

Published by .

One of the most iconic venues in the city just got even bigger.

Whether you prefer Bath in the spring, summer, autumn or winter few would deny that the city takes on a special charm at Christmas. With Georgian architecture illuminated by festive lights and visitors coming from all over the world, the atmosphere in Bath is hard to beat. Five minutes walk from the city-centre Bath on Ice, Bath’s huge winter ice rink, has also become a firm favourite on the Christmas calendar and this year it returns bigger than ever!

With a massive rink measuring 1000 square metres, a 39% increase on last year, Christmas 2018 promises to be a special one for Bath on Ice. Situated within Royal Victoria Park in front of the iconic Royal Crescent, the rink is frequented by residents and visitors alike celebrating the party season and twirling on the ice. You may even spot the odd celebrity venturing onto the ice or sipping mulled wine beside a log burner.

Wood-fired pizzas are also on offer (the rink was one of the first places in Bath to start selling them) and a whole range of festive drinks including deluxe hot chocolates, mulled wine and cider, prosecco and more are available in the rink-side Moguls Alpine Bar. So, after burning off all that energy in the cold, who doesn’t feel they deserve a treat?

Also making a big return this year is the ever-popular Glow Mini-Golf. Every Christmas the botanical 18-hole course, situated next to the rink, is given a magical makeover with fairy lights and glow-in-the-dark balls. Players challenge each other in the frosty night air under illuminated trees with the losers buying the drinks in the bar.

So whether you fancy something a little different this year, or whether listening to classic Christmas carols as you whirl around the ice are more your cup of tea (or mulled wine), Bath on Ice offers the lot.

Booking is advised, especially at weekends and in the evenings, and Christmas party packages are available for schools and large groups.

Prices are £11 for adults, £10 for kids (for a 1-hour session on the ice) and kids tickets are available with a Deluxe Hot Chocolate for £13.50 if you’re thinking of ideas for an early Christmas present.

Booking is online at or over the phone 01225 436888. Enquiries about parties should contact
