Food-lovers can get their teeth stuck into the World Heritage City of Bath this autumn and savour a menu of foodie events at the greatly anticipated Great Bath Feast (23 September – 8 October).  Let us spill the beans on some of the highlight events: from gourmet tasting menus; wine tastings; cookery school experiences; food trails and heavenly bake sales…


Nadiya Hussain’s Bake Me a Festive Story

Iconic Great British Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain will be stopping off at Bath Children’s Literature Festival to share her favourite recipes and stories from her new family cookbook and storybook compilation, Nadiya’s Bake Me a Festive Story (6 Oct). Younger members of the audience will be encouraged to help her with some biscuit decorating.

Price is £7.50 per ticket.

Hardeep Singh Kohli: My Life Through Food

Join Bath Comedy Festival as they welcome comedian, broadcaster and chef Hardeep Singh Kohli (5 Oct).  As he relates anecdotes about his passion for food and the development of curry culture in the UK Hardeep will cook with volunteers using fresh, local ingredients including vegetables harvested within two miles of the venue. Any excess of food will be given to local homeless charity Julian House.

Price is 17.50 per ticket and includes show, dinner, a cocktail and a beer.

The Great Bath Persian Feast 

Sample the celebrated cuisine and hospitality of Persia and Azerbaijan (23 & 30 Sept and 7 Oct). Join Simi on an informal cookery course and use seasonal ingredients grown on her organic allotment and foraged around the city to create traditional dishes such as jewelled rice, aubergine dip and saffron chicken.

Price is £75 per person.

Novel Wines Annual Wine Tasting Party

Take a tasting trip around the world by sampling 150 unique and undiscovered wines from England Wales, Croatia, Macedonia, Asia and beyond at Novel Wines’ first birthday (23 Sept). Line your stomach with food from Taste of Bath and The Free Range Chef as you uncover some of the wine world’s best kept secrets.

Price is £30 per ticket.


Vegetarian Supper Club with Rupert Taylor

Head Chef of Allium, Rupert Taylor invites you to join him on a specially-curated ‘Veggie Special’ Supper Club in the atmospheric, subterranean Igloo (26 Sep). Served in an ambient dinner party environment, expect fresh, seasonal ingredients, meticulously-matched wines, charismatic hosting and excellent company. Enjoy a welcome drink, three course supper and half a bottle of wine.

Cafe L’ard’s Jane Austen Supper Club 

Join in the Bennet Banquet and indulge in a fresh, flavoursome, super-seasonal, perfectly pretty, scrumptious six course feast with a Jane Austen theme, served up in the relaxed and sociable atmosphere of St Swithin’s Church, the place where Jane’s parents married and her father is buried (29 Sep).

£35 per person (BYO).

Vegetarian Showcase Evening at Demuths

Join the very best vegetarian chefs from Acorn Vegetarian Kitchen, Demuths Cookery School and Green Rocket Café as they come together to showcase their shared passion for producing the very best vegetarian food (25 Sep).  Enjoy a fresh and seasonally inspired six course tasting menu with carefully selected wine.

Bath Priory Tasca D’Almerita – Sicilian Wine Dinner

Join Vito Scaduto MCA at The Bath Priory for a talk and four course Michelin starred dinner paired with wines from Tasca d’Almerita, a fine wine producing estate in Sicily founded in 1830 (27 Sep). Sicily gained an unfortunate reputation during the 1950s to 1980s for making bulk blended wines, Tasca d’ Almerita, however, was one of the fabulous exceptions and these days Sicily is making some of the most exciting wines in Italy.

Price is £95 per person.

Planeta Wine Tasting Dinner at Allium Restaurant

Meet winemaker Alessio Planeta as he guides you through his family’s iconic, multi award-winning wines and the stunning Sicilian regions where they are made (27 Sep). Taste Planeta’s most famous wines alongside new additions, accompanied by a sumptuous four-course menu created by Allium’s talented Head Chef, Rupert Taylor.

The Ambassador’s Dinner at the Gainsborough Restaurant

Join Great Bath Feast Ambassadors The Pig Guide for an exclusive six course feast, created by Head Chef Dan Moon in the glamorous, sophisticated, yet relaxed surroundings of the Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel (27 Sep).

Price is £59 per person.

Fiona Beckett Wine and Cheese Tasting at Bath Rugby

Wine and cheese experts Fiona Beckett and Ben Lambourne present an evening of mouth-watering wine and cheese matches. Fiona is a wine writer for The Guardian and Decanter Magazine, and Ben owns the brilliant Pong Cheese (28 Sep).

Price is £25 per ticket (£5 from every ticket purchased will be donated to the Bath Rugby Foundation).
